Program Note: The title Diversions and Escapes comes from both the form of the work (each movement is a sort of rondo, in which episodes "escape" or "divert" from primary thematic material) as well as the harmonic language, which often flirts with French-inflected escapism.  I wrote this work for my friends Will Gibbons and Kristen Queen, whose kind support turned this into a much bigger--and better-- project than originally conceived.  It is dedicated to them.
