Please check out the latest issue (November 2011) of Percussive Notes, in which my marimba solo Shattered Dreamscapes is reviewed by Brian Zato. You will need to be a member of the Percussive Arts Society to view the document. Thanks to Jake Remington for the tip!

PASIC was a great success, and the TCU Percussion Orchestra performed the heck out of my piece, Image for Percussion Orchestra. I got a lot of nice feedback, and it was great catching up with so many people I hadn't seen in awhile. Somehow, most of my close friends are percussionists these days. My type of people, I guess! Speaking of, congratulations to my good friends Dave Hall and Jake Remington, both fantastic percussionists/composers who also had works performed by the TCU Percussion Orchestra. If you haven't checked these guys out yet, please do.
Looking to the future, I'm currently finishing up a trio for piano, alto flute, and alto sax for the Vivre Musicale ensemble based in Baltimore. Progress is slow but steady, and I should meet my Januaryish deadline. After that, I'll be writing a horn ensemble piece for the TCU Horn Ensemble to premiere at the International Horn Symposium in Denton this coming May. After that, my thoughts will turn to a possible marimba concerto. It's a bit far into the future, though, so we'll see! |
